Joan d’Urban Mullins is a visual artist living and working in Connecticut. She graduated in May 2021 from the University of Connecticut with a BFA, concentrating in painting. Her experimental approach to painting stems from her eclectic taste in art which has developed from living in several countries and making extended visits to others. The vast landscapes of her Southern African childhood are among her earliest memories, followed in later years by the vistas of Northern Hemisphere countries. She is inspired by the art of diverse cultures and times, from the prehistoric to the contemporary. Further influences are her earlier career teaching theatre and literature, both of which draw on visual imagery in the dramatization of human experience.
